Botox is More Common than you Think

Going under the knife with costly surgery is not as popular as Botox treatments. Cosmetic surgery is comparatively much more expensive, painful and uncomfortable, takes a longer time to heal, and comes with the possibility of complications. On the other hand, Botox is affordable, there's little down time and the procedure is a fine needle that is painless.

It has been used to treat thousands of patients medically and cosmetically for over twenty years. Botox is produced in a lab by a bacterium called clostridium botulinum and it has been purified under very strict controlled conditions.

Don't Judge Botox by the Extremes

Even though Botox is so widely used, and with so many great results, there still exists a kind of a prejudice against the brand and those that seek out the procedure. Because it is a beauty treatment, it is often portrayed negatively in news reports. Pictures of celebrities showing unnatural cosmetic surgery and extreme treatments can be wrongly mistaken for being the result of Botox. But Botox in the hands of a competent and practiced physician, simply does not produce those bad effects. Natural expressions should not be affected negatively in any way, as long as an experienced physician is administering the treatment.

How the Skin Ages

Over time, we begin to see wrinkles forming on our face, which occurs as a result of skin attribute changes. The forehead, eyes, and mouth are where we normally see these changes first. Of course, a worn-out look can occur because of this. In order to mitigate the tired look, Botox focuses on the source of the concern. In other words, it targets the facial muscles that are causing the deep wrinkles and lines to occur.

Facial wrinkles are most often formed while people smile, frown or make other facial expressions. The muscles that make the facial skin fold or crease, give rise to crease lines that form into permanent wrinkles. Botox prevents the formation of wrinkles through a simple technique designed to limit these muscles from causing creases.

What Can you Expect from your Doctor?

Although not required, your doctor may numb the area of the injection prior to administering your Botox injections. The procedure will likely take around ten minutes and you can return to daily activities shortly afterwards.

Botox courses are offered to doctors, dentists, assistants of physicians, and licensed nurses. Only physicians can buy Botox and it must be administered either by the physician or someone under their supervision.
