In several communities, women have less rights compared to males. But even in communities where they have the same legal rights, for example in the United States and also the more advanced Countries in Europe, females face numerous practical down sides. This is partly because women's suffrage is just a few decades old. In the end, it took 2 to 3 centuries before equal legal rights for men were attained. In a bid to speed up the equal rights of women, free federal grants or loans for single moms and women are now being supplied. Most of these grants take the form of scholarships to help females attend college, while some are grants to assist women entrepreneurs begin and also grow their businesses.

Almost all federal study grants may be applied through the FAFSA website. In one way, this makes the application process really easy because you only need to prove your family's financial requirement for assistance once. Once you've get this proof accepted, you can make an application for all of the scholarships that are highly relevant to you. On the down side, in case your proof (of poverty) is declined, you'll be rejected for many of the government scholarship grants. Therefore you need to be very careful when filling up the necessary paperwork.

Several federal study grants only offer up to $5000 for every successful applicant. Considering the rise in college tuition prices since the inception of these grants or loans, this is nowhere near enough to pay for the entire fees.

Thankfully, many people are entitled to more than one grant (at the very least from a different program) so it is not as undesirable as it seems. While you're not likely to find federal grants which clearly say they're only for females or just for single mothers, you can find more than a few whose description and needs seem to favor single working parents. One example is the Pell grant, lots of whose recipients study their Bachelors degrees at different online universities.

Then there are the teaching and also nursing grants which formally welcome almost all takers. However everyone knows that these two areas often favor females. This is also true of nursing, that is dominated simply by women.

Teaching and also nursing grants are generally a bit unique in their requirements when compared with other scholarships. They usually include more strings attached, for example they are only for certain subjects and they require the recipients' future jobs and employers. To take a concrete case, the TEACH program offers $4000 to a college student who wants to study Maths or even Science and is also prepared to teach these subjects for at least four years in a school in a poor community. Comparable terms hold for the nursing scholarships or grants.

Aside from the official government grants, there are also pseudo-government grants provided by numerous government-operated organizations. One famous example is the Renate W. Chasman Scholarship from Brookhaven National Laboratory. This scholarship or grant awards $2000 to women going back to school to study science, mathematics or engineering. Although it doesn't come right out to say "for single mothers", there aren't apt to be many other women returning to school right after a break in their studies, and therefore are there?

Mothers who want to obtain a higher education so that they'll get much better jobs have little reason not to do so. There are many scholarship grants for ladies available, which some are free federal grants for single mothers with relatively little competition. Getting a college degree is an easy way to earn more money and making a better life for your family.
