Looking younger and well rested is what we all want. Plastic surgeons help patients regain their youthful appearance - without having to undergo surgery - by using injectables and skin treatments. Non-invasive cosmetic procedures appeal to those patients who want to improve their appearance without the risk of complications or recovery time needed with more invasive plastic surgery treatments.

Cosmetic surgery of any kind used to be an embarrassment, but in today's world things have changed so dramatically that people readily admit that they have had cosmetic surgery. In the field of plastic surgery, non-surgical procedures are one of the fastest growing areas. Non-invasive procedures target the problematic areas of the face and body that may make you look old and tired. While the results are often temporary, these procedures are very effective in the short term.

For a variety of reasons, patients may choose non-invasive alternatives over surgery. First of all, most of these treatments are very affordable. Surgery may be expensive, while injectables or surface treatments are within your budget. Secondly, there is little to no downtime needed for recovery. Taking time off work can be difficult, as those of with jobs know. Patients are able to immediately return to their normal routine, as most of these procedures are done in very little time at the office. Finally, there is the reduced risk and the safety factor. There are very few complications associated with this type of cosmetic procedure as compared to surgery. The results eventually wear off if you are not happy with them.

The two main types of non-invasive procedures include injectables and surface treatments. Injectables are usually employed to reduce wrinkles and fine lines by plumping up the face. Surface treatments, which include laser treatments and chemical peels, target wrinkle reduction. Patients' most popular non-invasive treatment is Botox. Injected into the brow area where facial lines and wrinkles exist, it is simply a natural, purified protein.

Physicians use it to smooth the deep, persistent lines between your brows that develop over time. Just a few small injections cause the facial muscles that form those lines to relax, for up to four months. The results are dramatic and apparent within days. The best part is, patients are able to return to normal activity almost immediately after receiving the injections.

The natural process of aging causes skin to lose volume; facial fillers are used to replace it by plumping the skin. These injectables restore the youthful contour of your face and smooth wrinkles.

Laser treatments are another popular non-invasive cosmetic procedure that helps to reduce the signs of aging. In some cases, laser skin resurfacing can improve the firmness of skin. It is a procedure that smooths the facial skin.

To even out skin tone affected by age, sun damage, or acne, a chemical peel is used. This procedure creates younger, smoother skin by using a chemical solution to remove the damaged outer layers of your skin. The look of sun-damaged skin can be improved, as well as wrinkles, freckles, scars, and fine lines.

Cosmetic procedures are varied. Clearly, there are many ways to make you look younger and feel more beautiful. It's great news that you don't have to break the bank to have a treatment.
